PLATFORM - WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE
Time for Some SIMple Changes
CHANGES AS PRESIDENT
Creating an STI clinic, with free screening for students who attend and keeping the Health Center open on Sundays solely for this. I am already having talks with the Director of the Health Center to obtain this goal.
Continuing work on raising awareness and expanding accessibility on campus and working towards gaining more advocacy and improvements.
Work in collaboration with Conference and Events Services as well as DCL to simplify the room reservation process for both clubs and individuals.
Have better direct communication with the student body and a more approachable campus presence.
Build a partnership with the Graduate Students Association and have a better collaboration between both groups of students on campus.
CHANGES TO E-BOARD
Integrate a representative from the Greek Association Council as well as Brandeis Athletics to better integrate these vital parts of the student body into the conversation.
Integrate Director of Communications, Director of Programming, and Chief Strategist into the Chief of Staff Position to eliminate redundancy.
Have better weekly reports in terms of direct communication to the Student Body.
Have a better relationship with the Board of Trustees, and see if any possible modifications can be made to the privacy statement they are required to sign in order to help increase transparency to the student body as to what is happening in higher up administration.
Provide a more direct line of communication to the student body as to who they can contact on the Union to represent them to administration if any issues arise to help cause changes that the STUDENTS want in a more productive and less hostile manner.
CHANGES TO THE STUDENT BODY
Continue the work conducted by the Student Union to integrate the software Presence, which would streamline club information, on-campus communication, community service, and a portal for student life to improve student life on campus.
Try to change funding in the long term and lessen the stresses placed both on clubs in having to plan events months in advance within mere weeks as well as onto Union having to make large scale decisions in too short of a time frame. We're all students here.
Attempt to improve on and off-campus transportation, and restart the Riverside shuttle to the Green Line T station.
Urge improvements to Hiatt and building more relationships with companies in Boston to expand the outreach of the Brandeis Community.
Have a monthly form where students can directly communicate concerns to the student union that they can then be put in touch with the correct representative to work with them and properly communicate their concerns
Provide a safe, responsive, and organized outlet for student activists, not to suppress and make things difficult for activists but rather to have a healthier way for them to have a voice to administrators rather than hostility on both sides that brings no changes.
